I will answer pool plaster questions
Comments (843)Spot plaster?? It's not like it's drywall getting patched. Making a repair will definitely be noticeable especially on any colored plaster. I've posted countless times on this thread about plaster issues and to reiterate, it all starts at the beginning with a proper prep, to weather conditions, application, filling and chemical care. If any of these, and some in between not mentioned, are not strictly followed, there will be a failure in the finish. The contractor should have been prepared with a tent before the rain. Carefully checking and monitoring weather prior to working pays off. The white spots may be calcium nodules. In pool plaster, it generally indicates an improper bond of the plaster to the substrate (original plaster). Mostly seen on re-plaster jobs and not new pools. Re-plastering requires a bond coat to allow the old and the new plaster properly bond. The problem will persist and probably won't go away. Acid washing might help a bit but can etch the surface making it rough. And who wants a rough surface on their feet? Here's a good explanation on this subject. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/calcium-nodules-in-pools.66499/#:~:text=What%20are%20calcium%20nodules%3F%20In%20swimming%20pools%20and,rough%20to%20the%20touch%2C%20hard%2C%20and%20generally%20gritty....See MoreConfused about flooring.... Comments (17)Floorman here 40 years experience professional installer First. You have a bigger leak under floor if it buckling. Sound to me you would be better to have vinyl plank installed instead of wood. If you want a professional job it will cost you $10 plus for wood and labor no furniture. Labor alone is $5 in Missouri. The cheap hardwood is all going to be soft easy to scratch. Vinyl plank would be cheaper. Labor is $1.50 to $2.00 sq ft. Its glue down or it can be loose laid if you buy that type. If a peace gets scratched easier to replaced even for DIY but that peace will have to be glued. Vinyl plank looks like real wood now days. Water won’t hurt it as long as not a major leak. If your on concrete for wood or vinyl a moisture test should be taken first to see if there’s any hydrostatic pressure if there is it shouldn’t lay either one would have to fix problem first. With vinyl plank if it is glued you might need 1/4” underlayment on sub floor. But loose snap in vinyl plank you shouldn’t need underlayment. If your floor is wavy so will the vinyl plank look. Just my advice....See MoreHas anyone used Biyork flooring before?
Comments (70)Roxanne I'm sorry you're in the same boat. They are no longer responding to emails and have basically used the report their former claims person put on about our vacuum and standing behind that for any issues. We've moved Beyond The White surface scratches, we actually have cracks that are starting to appear, in addition to the delaminating planks, and now we're seeing some of the peeling or stain dropouts like Kathy has. If they seriously want to stand behind a vacuum causing all of this damage to engineered hardwood, what does it say about their product? Funnily enough, they included a paragraph in their warranty with regards to vacuums after our issues cropped up. Unfortunately for them, it's not the warranty that was in place when we purchased the product. Their customer service is absolutely non-existent. The warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on and they're flooring is absolutely abhorrent....See MoreClient wants her home to have more character. Any suggestions?
Comments (205)I really do have to step away soon, but... "I get it. "we have much different perspectives." and yours is acceptable and mine isn't." Well I literally have a PhD focused in project analysis, you know... things like behavioral economics, net present value, opportunity costs, marginal value, marginal cost... I am sure that architects spend years studying to develop their perspective on value also. So, to answer your question honestly, I don't know anything about design, but I do believe I have the upper hand when we move to value discussions and can hold my own in process analysis....See MoreJessica B.
