Help in finding bedding?
Comments (39)I like that it's got orange, not pink. I like that the flowers aren't roses (the expected). I like all the soft colors together. Have time to actually pay attention to the posts.. you're looking for something more orange then pink and not something that's really rosey looking, although I think they are either peonies or cabbage type roses. Look at the leaves, then the stems, looks more like cabbage roses then peonies. I actually used Windows magnifier on it. Using the magnifier on the peony bedding from ebay, there are less leaves If you do happen to find the fabric, can you let me know? Patricia ~~ That's an interesting speculation. I hear what you're saying about manufacturers having access to wider fabric than we mere mortals. Now if you put your super sleuthing together with Roselvr's astute observations about it being scanned into the computer, and you look at what shows through on the top above the bed, does that look like a pattern envelope to you? It looks like a magazine page to me. But you have a great point that it might be homemade. That duvet cover is exactly how we would do it with our sewing machines. Aren't you sharp! Maybe that's why I can't find it anywhere! Anyway, whoever did it sure had an eye for it. The room is exquisitely well coordinated, with one possible exception. There is a circular design on the headboard that is partially blocked by all the pillows. It would be better not there with those pillows. Yet to look at the mirror frame, it looks as if it were custom hand painted with the duvet cover as an inspiration, doesn't it? It sure is delightful to be able to chat with others who understand! While it isn't a pattern envelope, it very well could be from a sewing magazine. I have a pattern in my sewing stuff in storage for something similar (comforter, skirt, pillows) but looked at all of the pattern sites, none are big on patterns for bedding any more. There's rick rack trim (IIRC the name lol) which isn't as popular as chording for commercial stuff. Of course that Joann link doesn't work.. if you go to the Joann page, type in Tallis spice, it will come up.. Tallis Spice Tallis Rose...See MorePlease help choose new bedding
Comments (7)I love your dramatic eggplant walls. Your inspiration bed is really a mix of creams and off white with texture. I don't really see toile anywhere in that mix. Your current bed linens don't remind me of your inspiration for two reasons:1) they are all one color of white instead of layering of different off whites and cream and 2) there is only one texture. BTW if you want to use some of your current bedding, I think it would work if you add some other elements in creams and texture. For example, maybe toss a lovely knitted cream throw (like the inspiration) and replace the pillows with a couple of different cream and oyster textured silk and linen pillows with the same duvet. BTW, I've looked at linen sheets and duvet covers and nixed the idea because I'm too lazy to iron and don't care for the look of rumpled linen. Even when you iron it, after you sleep in the bed, it will tend to look rumpled. Have you thought about the care and the look of linen? Do my Sky test for fabric - hold the sheets in one hand and crumple them up in your hand and hold them for a minute or two - you want the heat of your hand to influence the fabric. Release your grip - if it has a lot of creases and wrinkles, avoid that fabric because it will look messy on the bed. If there are just a few soft wrinkles, then it will look great in real use. While linen sheets can be a little rough at first, they will soften with washing and last longer than cotton and they have a wonderful sheen and texture that is hard to duplicate with cotton. Maybe when I win the multimillion dollar lottery and can afford someone to wash and iron my bedlinens daily, I'll switch to linen. LOL Not going to happen in my lifetime. Comments (20)les917 - you are the sweetest thing ever and I think you need to move to my neighborhood to be my personal shopper!!! LOL We have a Tuesday Morning a few miles away, I wonder if they carry the same items from store to store. And I am completely addicted to this forum and would be lost without it!! I was just reading back to the thread in which people were voting on which wallpaper to choose for my room, and you had mentioned (and others agreed with you) that I needed to get bedding that would balance out the colors in the paper. You had posted a really pretty JC Penney bedding set in that thread is simply gorgeous but because I have my heart set on solid colors I am getting stuck on that and feeling discouraged...I really wanted solid color linens but just struggling as to what direction I should go. I am not opposed to introducing another pattern in the room, but really don't think I am talented enough to pick the right thing. The only patterns that I am thinking will work are ginghams or stripes (and I hate stripes). LOL...See MoreBedding Help, Please!
Comments (19)then we have different experiences roarah that's true, with Anthropologie one can be lucky or not..I usually am. They sell different brands, so it will depend on a brand..or to some degree a type of a product..and might be a miss, so I've already educated myself of what not to get there, and what still to get. (but I didn't pay so much..one was a twin and I waited for sale..another, a queen, I found on eBay-very different price..I imagine if I payed the full price and it would start tearing like you describe, I'd bring it back to them very fast. and they'd take it back. they have pretty good customer service, I must give it to them) but I do have two totally great, very fine quality sets of bedding from them, and two or three throws..and..one throw pillow I think? and these quilts..and really, no complaint about these, and I have most of them for several years. I highly recommend OneKingsLane, Gilt, and RueLaLa as huge sources of discounted(or so they say lol) bedding..I try to go by the brand there. If I'm familiar with it. That's where I find high quality linen, and cotton, and some throws and accent pillows as well....See Moremtnrdredux_gw
