What NOT to wear (spin-off of Annie's thread)
Comments (122)Martinca, as my screenname implies, I have four kids. My belly has not seen the light of day in years. I too am not overweight but do have a tummy bulge sag as a result. I don't wear low rise anything but I do wear mid-rise pants, etc. it's a bit of a quandary b/c I need to make sure my tummy is covered while at the same time, make sure my butt isnt overextended like it would be in mom jeans that are high waisted. This skirt is not low waisted. I just put this skirt on to be sure (and golddust, I was wrong - I don't have the charcoal color but rather the gray one and a tan one) and it sits much higher in me than in the photo, about an inch below my belly button. For my own body type, I've found that pants, etc that hit me sort of in the middle of my tummy actually look best. Anything that goes higher then creates kind of a bubble effect where my belly is by cinching where I'm smaller - so rather than suck me it, it makes it jut out, if that makes sense. This is especially true in skirts that zip and button on the front. They don't hold me in if the button is higher and above my belly fat. Hard to explain but it just works for me but I'm for sure not exposing myself like in the photos above! And I have the hardest time with bathing suits! I love tankinis in theory but it is so hard to find styles where the top actually comes over the top of the bottoms rather than meeting at the top. One move and my belly is showing! I love the designs of the Athleta suits but unfortunately nearly all their suits have the "meet and greet" rather than full coverage. And now bathing suit is nearing...ugh!...See MoreBiscuits....yet another thread
Comments (52)Strawberry shortcake with biscuits are a favorite old fashioned summer treat. Flakey biscuits, sweet berries and rich fluffy whipped cream. I don’t like it with the little sponge cakes my BIL gets for my sister’s birthday. (My family marks our summer birthday by what fruit was ripe) Pre-pandemic I had a light dinner at a friend’s. A spicy roasted tomato and pepper soup and huge sourdough biscuits. The recipe is from King Arthur. It has become a favorite way to use up discard. I think of of biscuits as rich, flaky and not particularly sweet. On another note I was a particularly awkward kid. I found teen fandom fairly incomprehensible but I had two friends who were huge Bay City Rollers fans. Lol. I remember bringing ‘scones’ to school in my lunch box for an endless stream of band members birthdays. I would love to find the ancient cookbook I used. As I remember the recipe was more like a biscuit than most of what I have had as scones in my adulthood. https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/buttery-sourdough-sandwich-biscuits-recipe...See MoreAnother table setting thread (blue and white, maybe)
Comments (70)bbstx - Your table is going to be beautiful, the blue and pink combination is one of my favorites. Love all the china options, the Blue Willow us my favorite for a luncheon. I have an affinity for china, keep wanting more. But I do not use it often enough. Keeping my eye on the Wallace Bee flatware just love it. Thank you for sharing. I do need new flatwear, the flatware that came with our desert house is junky. The Wallace Bee flatware is now at the top of my list....See MoreAnother 5:1:1 thread….
Comments (2)The hot, unrelenting sun here does seem to burn off water very quickly. FWIW, something that's helped me with retaining water in outside pots is a saucer of some type, so water doesn't just drain right out. You do need to be vigilant about water standing for more than a couple of days tho, because of mosquitoes. I have some of those mosquito dunks and break them into pieces to control the larvae. There's also a water retaining gel product you can add to potting mixes - and some potting mixes come with it already mixed in....See MoreHU-163897337
