Even I want to know. I want to refinish my yellow oak floors to something lighter.

Looks like white oak to me, possibly a mix of red and white. Looks like it was a nice long length product, too bad they laid it the way they did with the end joints in that stair step pattern.

Unless I'm mistaken the pictured floor is sanded and unfinished. You have a great deal of control over how an oak floor can be finished. Take a look at the web pages for Bona stains and Bona sealers to get an idea how a wood floor can be finished.

Thabks for feedback! Yes these are floors of home we are removating. House was built 1960s and floor was covered in carpet at some point. We sanded them down to barewood and now planning to refinish with bona natural sealer and then topcoat with HD traffic. i just wasnt sure if they are white or red oak. Below is how rhey looked after we removed carpet, cleaned them and prior to sanding.

It looks pink and although there's some color variation, I see no boards with sapwood streaks that are indicative of White Oak. I think it's Red Oak but a closer picture would be required to confirm it.

I'd test Bona Red Out in a closet.
