Here's my rough floor plan for future kitchen space
Comments (7)Euglossa- Thanks for the link. I love looking at fabrics. Marti8a- I know, that inspiration picture is just exactly what I want to achieve. ML- I really like the warm white/soft yellow/french blue...and some purple! Lavender from the garden, maybe, and some iris :) Over on the kitchen forum, many people think I need an island, but they're just too modern for my taste. Yes, they're practical, but you can't move them out of the way, when you need more space. This way, I have a big table for baking cookies with the nieces and nephews, having coffee with my mom, shelling peas, making pies, etc....and I still have the pretty table and chairs for dining. Another plus, the chairs are much easier to sit in, especially for the very young and older family members, than perching on a stool :)...See MoreKitchens of the Future or The Future of Kitchens
Comments (9)amazing what people are paying to live in the "units" that contain these kitchens. Changes are occurring.......the kitchen issue is part of it. Houses are no longer afforded by many....those who possibly could afford a home instead want to live where they don't need a car but walk/bike and have a variety of public transporation modes available....it's now expensive to own, insure ,and pay to park a car......it's all centered around where the high paying jobs are...or any decent job for that matter. Think of our parents and grandparents-they had potlucks...people entertained in nice sized homes with dining rooms, patios, yards...etc...neighborhoods were built. Now, people are closed up in" tight secutity" buildings, and they go out to meet and eat and socialize and return to small units with kitchens like these. This is also quite expensive, from the price tags I see around here. It's a culture shift. There are many people coming into the area on buses who go home to outlying areas and spend what money they have on Apartments...... not like these..... with ordinary kitchens. The units described will be called "Luxury" because of the amenities in the building...they'll probably describe a compact modern kitchen as "luxury" also. So the point is luxury is now not wasting space....and provides a "lifestyle"....See MoreAnother kitchen remodel in my future
Comments (3)Thank you Build Beautiful, love that look! We have a small kitchen window over the sink and would be moving the range to the same location as in that picture with a 36 inch drawer base under the window. The only upper cabinets I would have is on the wall with the refrigerator, a 30 inch pantry, fridge with cabinet above, a 24 inch and two 30 inch cabinets that would end at the wall left of the sink. I chose a medium green for the drawer base cabinets, nice to see that green is a trend now also!...See Morenot feeling my future kitchen
Comments (10)Once you get rid of the word art, and use accessories you like, maybe get some counter stools with a cheerful upholstery, possibly a roman-shade in a coordinating fabric ( chairs in a pattern, shade in a solid with a pretty contrasting ribbon trim, for example.) I am sure you will feel better. The kitchen is perfectly fine. Nothing is terrible or ugly, It's just not what you like, but there is nothing to fight. Don't put stuff on top pf the cabinets....See MoreAnnKH
