Gardenia Distress

I'm looking for advice on my newly planted gardenia. I planted it just two days ago in Zone 7. I noticed today, yellow leaves are forming at the bottom and throughout the plant. Also, some of the flowers yellowed immediately also. I made sure to use proper soil for drainage (pine bark mixed with native soil -70/30), and , left 1-2 inches of root ball exposed and light mulching. I also checked the pH level today and it shows 6.5. It rained nicely yesterday and I did water it a little today after I noticed the leaves. I don't see any signs of pests and the underside of the leaves look fine other than being yellow. I'm a little perplexed as to what could be wrong or what did I do wrong? How can I fix it where the yellowing doesn't continue.
