Quartzite Crack on Vanity
Comments (22)@Joseph - I understand there might be cracks that transect the slab so there is actually something to break off. However in the example posted by the OP and with my very similar hairline crack, it is very short and so my comment was specific to those kinds of cracks where there would be no place for it to be "snapped" off. There is no place where it could be broken apart and disassembling and removing it would seem to create potential problems without providing any kind of benefit in terms of filling a small short crack in situ. But I speak completely as a lay person whose only experience was having a very similar small hairline crack filled without having the counter removed - the water shut off - or having my bathroom left with construction debris. The end result just looks like an additional small grayish "swirl" :-)....See MoreQuartzite stress crack or fissure?!?!
Comments (14)We went with Sea Pearl Quartzite. Supposed to be very hard and they broke a number of blades cutting. So far six weeks in no issues. Looks great in my opinion but stone yard tried to sell me some marble first calling it soft quartzite. My fabricator went with us to purchase to make sure we got the right product. Also went with the thicker 3 inch stone slab vs 2 inch....See MoreQuartzite Crack at Install
Comments (10)clowns was an understatement. were the installers connected to your purchase of the stone? sometimes they send out their own guys. Or did you find these 'pros' yourself after purchasing the stone on your own time? in any case, they owe you a replacement, or the ability to fix what they've damaged. I don't know if those spider cracks around the sink can be fixed. The stove is a joke. the guy missed the opening and hit your cabinet base?? sorry, but that's just poor, lazy work. he's bad at math. you can clearly see it's over about an inch to the right. you need to talk to the boss of these installers, and get them out there. the adhesive stuff, with all the info out there, i'm surprised these installers aren't on top of it and using the correct adhesive. this comes from fabrication. did they cut it on site or in their shop? I agree, it's not the best match up but, this backsplash is good....See MoreQuartzite crack during installation
Comments (2)Rub a color matched Sharpie over it and forget it please. You're not getting any adhesive into that crack....See MoreArden Hills Estates
