home made coffee pods for a Nespresso machine
Comments (3)You can go this route. But, I hate to say it, getting trapped in a system of proprietary pods assumes one does not care about expense, "reusability" or recycling. See the CoffeeGeek forums for additional ideas and feedback......See MoreIs Nespresso better than Keurig?
Comments (17)The big question for you, holly-kay is: do you love espresso/cappuccino and lattes? That is, extracted Italian style vs drip-brewed American style a la Duncan (which I like a lot). If not, a $15 Melitta drip will produce excellent coffee if you start with freshly roasted, finely ground beans. I used one for years. Filters make it easy to clean. My issue was waste as I'm the only coffee drinker. I've never had a good cup of coffee from a K cup. But it's convenient. The Nespresso offers excellent coffee and single-serve convenience. If I could mail in the used pods I'd let them recycle mine. But I'm 1-1/2 hours from Sur La Table so not efficient. Nespresso isn't the best espresso I've tasted in my life but for an inexpensive machine, quality of the coffee, convenience of pods and range of choices and quality it is excellent and I am 100% satisfied. Reordering is so easy. Order came in 2 days; shipping was reasonable. I love my morning coffee more than ever and visitors rave about the cappuccino. Comments (106)Well when my coffee maker died a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try the new dual machine. The verdict is still out and luckily Sur la Table has a very generous return policy. The coffee and espresso are both very good (I have an older Nespresso so wasn't concerned about quality). I also like not having a grinder, plus the stray grounds, on my counter. My biggest complaint about the machine is that the coffee is not as hot as I would like it and I generally zap it in the microwave for a bit after brewing which is a hassle. I plan to use it a bit more and then decide to keep or return....See MoreNew Coffee Maker Needed! Verismo vs Keurig vs Nespresso??
Comments (9)I personally won't pay for those overpriced pods and capsules. Most important thing is freshness of the beans and a good grinder. Currently using either a French Press, Moka Pot, Clever coffee dripper or Thermavorm drip when we need more quantity. Mazzer Mini grinder was the best investment I've made. We do have a lever actuated plumbed in espresso machine (Fiorenzata Bricoletta), which we loved, but I've given up with it's endless repairs (gaskets, descaling, pump, stats, etc.)...See Morededtired
