Yellow Stains in Bhamas White Granite CounterTop
Comments (19)@kel_kat5 - It is a mistake to think that Dayana’s situation is representative of granite counters. Most importantly, the Bahamas White granite she pictured looks like it’s in the family of the Imperial White or Kashmir granites, which is notorious for behaving more like marble and staining easily because it is more absorptive than other granites, I.e. porous. If one is looking for a granite with a white background, check out the granites in the family of Alaska White, White Springs, Bianco Delicatus, and Lennon, which are pretty bullet-proof. I’ve had different granites in different homes, and none even needed sealing, and were carefree, and we didn’t baby them. There are a thousand granites out there, and they should not all be lumped under the same umbrella. Quartz is a great choice if you want a more uniform appearance to your counters. There are stories on this forum of Quartz staining, scorching and chipping, and having resin pools. I actually think Quartz is a wonderful choice for counters. But get it for its appearance and beauty, not because you think it is more durable than granite....See MoreBacksplash Idea for the Granite Counter Top
Comments (8)Thank you everyone who responded so far. I really appreciate it. I would really appreciate If anyone can also share some good subway tile examples that may go well in my kitchen. Also, I was thinking about getting a single quartz stone just to avoid the too many grout lines (May be white with some brown/grey vein). Do you think it will look good?...See MoreNeed help hiding granite line on kitchen counter top.
Comments (25)it's not horrible. but I agree, the rough edge should have been done better to blend w/the other piece. I also think they could have done a better job matching up the pieces. 100% they should have informed you where they were going to cut and how the ends would look against one another. Most reputable fabricators will show the client and have them sign off before they cut, just for this reason. you have a lot going in there from what I can see. a very busy backsplash, red/brown cabinets and a blue/gray wall color? and bright white outlets. you can buy colored outlets/plates that would blend in w/the tile. or get the wood one and paint it yourself to match the tile color. when shown against everything else you have happening in that space, the seaming really isn't that noticeable....See MoreHow to modernize a kitchen with Santa Cecília counter top granite
Comments (8)Could you explain further your "building an island"? You have an island there already. If you replace it with an island that looks completely different from the rest of the kitchen, it could look incongruous and not fitting in. It's hard to say without knowing more what you meant, Also, you said you don't have much of a budget, but islands are expensive due to the amount of cabinetry plus the electrical required. I am also not clear whether you are changing your cabinets or not, or if you are, what you are doing with them. Refacing? Painting? Replacing? I actually think your kitchen looks fine as is. But to help you, please explain further what you are doing in your kitchen with the cabinets....See MoreKendrah
